Kaaps

Kaaps or Afrikaaps is an Afrikaans dialect that is mainly spoken in the Cape Flats in Cape Town.


I thought I knew Afrikaans until I went to the Cape Flats and heard what they call Kaaps/Afrikaaps.



Toyi-toyi

A quasi-military dance-step characterized by high-stepping movements, performed either on the spot or while moving slowly forwards, usually by participants in protest gatherings or marches, and accompanied by chanting, singing, and the shouting of slogans


They were toyi-toying for the lack of service delivery in their community and apparently the money was misused by a local tenderpreneur



Inyanga

Inyanga is mostly a traditional herbalist and does not usually perform rituals that are common to those that a Sangoma performs.


I went to see Inyanga when I was not feeling well.



Mngqundu

This is an incorrect spelling of mnqundu.
It's so annoying to see so many people misspelling this word 🤦🏽‍♂️

This is a general kasi term for a criminal.

Msotra is the slang term for Soweto township.

A Kasi term for a chubby or a fat person.

A statement made by bitter and jealous people when they see other people happy(especially a couple).


They are all lovey dovey now but it will end in tears.
